AI Art Policy
ProtoCON BC is built on the concept of supporting creators in their endeavors.
Community means we uplift one another and work together for the betterment of our industry.
As such, we request that any designer bringing a prototype avoid using any AI elements in their prototypes. We would rather see markers on paper and cut out by hand than AI art or copywriting in your game's design.
We will not be entertaining any discussions about this, nor will we be disputing any nuances.
Trying to ‘sealion’ may result in ProtoCON BC banning you from the event without refund.
As this is the first year of ProtoCON BC and we did not post this policy ahead of ticket sales, for this year only this serves as a warning towards the intent of such a policy for future events. We ask that designers be upfront with playtesters if AI was used in the creation of the game, and to seek out other means of getting art for your game in the future. We are always happy to help point up-and-coming designers to the multiple resources out there for you to craft your vision.
During future ProtoCON BC events, using AI to create any aspect of your game could result in your attendance being refused without refund.
